apt-file command searches available packages for a specific file or files. The packages do not need to be installed to perform the search.
Install
apt install apt-file
Usage
apt-file list x11-utils
Search for utilities in packages
$ apt-file search -x "bin/.*mailx.*"
$ apt-file search -x "bin/dig$"
